ING Collection Poland

History

The ING Polish Art Foundation was established in the year 2000. The aim of the Foundation is to promote Polish contemporary art, in particular the works of young artists. This mission is realized, among others, by the creation of an art collection. As ING Group had started its operations in Poland in the early 1990s, the year 1990 became the symbolic date of the collection’s beginning.

Collection

The Foundation’s collection is exhibited in the offices of the donors and is presented at external exhibitions. Pictures of most of the works are made available online. In addition to building the collection, the Foundation initiates, organizes and is the partner of many artistic projects.
The Foundation in cooperation with the Museum of Art in Łódź co-organize a “Common Project”. Its main goal is to support artists under the age of 30. “Common Project” emphasizes not only the end-result (an exhibition, publication, etc.), but most importantly the sole execution of the project in close cooperation with both institutes.

In order to maintain the highest level of the Foundation’s activities, the Management Board signed a cooperation agreement with Zachęta National Gallery of Art in 2004. From that time, both institutions have supported each other: Zachęta supports the Foundation with its expertise and experience, and the Foundation contributes donations, which are used for the purchase of specific works of art for the Gallery’s exhibitions.
