Diederik van Wassenaer appointed Global Head of Regulatory and International Affairs

Diederik van Wassenaer is the Bank’s new Global Head Regulatory and International Affairs following the retirement of Henny Koemans.

Diederik, who is currently Commercial Banking’s Global Head of Network, will start in his new role on 1 January 2016. In his role of Global Head Regulatory and International Affairs, which is based in Amsterdam, Diederik will set out the strategy for, as well as coordinate and implement regulatory processes impacting the Bank and its businesses, both Retail and Commercial Banking.

ING Group’s Public & Government Affairs department will be combined with the Commercial Banking International & Trade Affairs team and the Public Affairs team of ING Netherlands to form the new Regulatory and International Affairs department as of 1 January 2016.

During his career, Diederik has held a variety of senior management roles since joining ING in 1999 as Group General Counsel and General Manager of the Corporate Legal, Compliance and Security department. These include CEO of ING Lease, Global Head of Wholesale Banking Products, Global Head of Clients and Equity Markets, Head of ING Wholesale Banking Netherlands and Global Head of Clients and Network. He is currently a member of Commercial Banking’s Executive Team.
