Marco Bragadin (49) has been appointed as the new CEO of ING Italy. He will start on 1 October 2016 and will be tasked with growing ING's position in the Italian market by focusing on innovation and customer experience.

Marco joins ING after three years with Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena, where he is currently director of Retail Banking and Distribution. Before joining Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena, he spent eleven years with Vodafone Group PLC. His roles there included director of Business Development and, from 2007 to 2012, CEO of TeleTu in Italy. Marco holds a degree in Economics from Bologna University, a Ph.D. in Financial Economics from the University of Bergamo and an MBA from the Booth School of Business in Chicago. He started his career with The Boston Consulting Group.

Marco replaces Alessandro Decio, who left ING in June 2016 to take up the position of CEO at the Italian state-owned export credit agency SACE (Servizi Assicurativi del Commercio Estero).

Aris Bogdaneris, member of the Management Board Banking and head of ING Challengers & Growth Markets, said: "With his extensive experience in both the Italian banking and telecom sectors, where he has led strategic development and channel innovation, I am confident Marco will further strengthen our Italian business."
