Our People

We understand that it’s important that our workforce properly reflects the diversity of our customer base.

In the U.S. ING employs roughly 9,000 people. Of those:
  • 56% are women
  • 16% are ethnically diverse

In our managerial ranks:
  • 42% are women
  • 12% are ethnically diverse

We strive to impact the employment experience by fostering dialogue that opens ING to difference, establishing supportive work relationships across the organization, giving employees further opportunities to learn, grow and feel involved, and constantly improving manager quality.

The Leader's Edge
, a comprehensive training program that integrates diversity concepts as they relate to performance & talent management, and rewards & staffing is a requirement for all managers.

We also recognize and support five separate employee “networks” that play a very important role in welcoming and educating the work force. These include the:
  • ING Latino Network
  • ING Asian American Network
  • ING Women’s Network
  • ING African-American Network
  • ING GALA - Gay and Lesbian Network

ING’s employee networks play an important role in providing professional growth for participants; increasing education and awareness for all employees; promoting the company's inclusive values and corporate goals; and demonstrating leadership and respect within ING and our communities. For more information on our Latino, Asian American, Women’s, African-American and Gay and Lesbian networks, see our
ING Networks at Work Brochure (pdf 689kb).

Acting as an advisory body and connection to our ING Diversity Pillars and the Employee Networks is a cross-functional team of employees called the U.S. Diversity Council (USDC). The USDC exists to inspire, equip and engage these groups to achieve ING's diversity goals.
