BBL

Bank Brussel Lambert was established following a merger between Bank Brussel and Bank Lambert on 30 June 1975. BBL has been a 100% subsidiary of ING Group since 1998. In 2003 the name of the company was changed to ING België NV.

Bank Brussel was established in 1871. In the following 60 years it acquired stakes in other banks that were represented in the major cities of Belgium. In 1931 all acquisitions were combined into one entity which was not only active in the traditional banking sector, but also in the field of managing industrial interests, mainly in Belgium and Africa.

Bank Lambert derived from the banking company that was started by the Lambert family. This bank had been active on the Belgian banking market since Belgium's independence in 1830. After 1945, Bank Lambert rapidly expanded its banking activities by subsequent mergers with several private banks.
