Halifax

The Halifax Fire Insurance Association was founded in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1809. It was acquired by Nationale-Nederlanden in 1959. In January 2002, the company was renamed ING Insurance Company of Canada and is currently known as ING Insurance, now the largest insurer in Canada.
