Innovation at ING
Innovation at ING isn’t about the latest gadgets or gizmos, but rather creating a differentiating experience for customers. Making their lives better.
Recognised as one of Forbes magazine’s most innovative companies, ING has a variety of ways of turning great ideas into products and services that customers really need.
These include in-house innovations using the bank’s €25 million Innovation Fund, investing in and partnering with financial technology (fintech) companies via ING Ventures, as well as developing our own unique innovation method – PACE, which has trained more than 10,000 employees.
ING has Labs in four cities around the world (Amsterdam, Brussels, London and Singapore) where we build and validate new businesses by combining our knowledge and network with the knowledge and skills of others.
To increase the speed and impact of our performance, we have consolidated all our innovation activities into one business area called ING Neo, reporting directly to the chief executive officer. ING Neo will innovate for both customers and ING itself.
What we focus on
We look for new opportunities to solve problems and client needs in a number of areas. These are the value spaces we are looking to disrupt.
Becoming proactive in helping customers to buy a house. Creating pre-market opportunities for owners and buyers, integrating financing in the bidding process to give customers financial security, and offering ‘software as a service’ to brokers so they better serve customers.
Automating and digitising trade through technologies like blockchain and advanced analytics, enabling greater supply chain efficiency and developing data-led trade services.
Offering alternative and personalised lending options to customers, digitising the loan origination to distribution process, and developing new type of digital assets.
Helping customers make smarter financial decisions and achieve goals through meaningful day-to-day interactions that are easy, personal and smart. Think money management services, multibank platforms for individuals and corporate clients, and subscription management services, among others.
