Another Belgian bank, Belfius has joined ING and KBC to further develop the integrated mobile payments and loyalty platform, Payconiq.

Fresh from KBC announcing that it would join forces in July, last week’s announcement shows that when it comes to preparing for the European Union’s PSD2 regulations, Payconiq is leading the way.

An ING innovation, Payconiq is accepted in more than 12,000 shops in Belgium already.

The announcement means that Payconiq will now be integrated in the digital platform Citie which is supported by Belfius, bpost and Proximus. This should further increase Payconiq’s share of mobile payments via smartphone and promote the use of digital loyalty programmes as well.

With Belfius onboard, the three banks now have close to two million customers who regularly use mobile banking and can easily become a Payconiq client.

The aim is to continue to provide shopkeepers and consumers with an innovative, omnichannel, secure and inexpensive cardless and terminal-less payment solution.
