ING Group has been nominated as a finalist in the Finance for the Future Awards 2015.

The Finance for the Future Awards recognise organisations that embed sustainability in decision making with leadership and support from their finance teams.

ING entered the awards in the large company category, submitting its integrated Annual Report which demonstrates that sustainability and financial resilience are integral to the company’s strategy.

The Annual Report not only describes ING’s performance, but how we create value. It also explains what the key priorities of our stakeholders are and how this guides ING in its decision making process.

“We are very excited to have made it to the finals on the strength of our first integrated Annual Report. It was a new reporting initiative, involving major collaboration between our finance, sustainability and communications departments as well as our business lines,” said Egmont Philips, head of External Communications at ING.

The Awards are founded by ICAEW, a leading global professional membership organisation of chartered accountants and HRH The Prince of Wales’ Accounting for Sustainability Project (A4S).

Richard Spencer, ICAEW’s Head of Sustainability, said: “The shortlisted candidates have all shown how committed they are to tackling the social and environmental challenges we face. They have demonstrated their determination to promote sustainability and understand the role that finance function plays in the process.”

He said “the awards celebrate the companies that lead the way and contribute to achieving the ultimate goal of a sustainable world”.

Jessica Fries, Executive Chairman of The Prince’s Accounting for Sustainability Project (A4S), said: “The finalists provide inspiring examples of how finance can respond to major social, environmental and economic challenges faced, and can do so in a very profitable way, whatever the size or type of organisation."

The winner of the awards will be announced on 8 October 2015 at a ceremony in London.

The ING Annual Report is part of ING’s annual reporting suite, which includes the Annual Review and the Sustainability Annex.
