ING to appoint Lard Friese CEO of Nationale-Nederlanden and Chairman of Dutch Intermediary Division

Amsterdam , 27 June 2008

ING announced today that it intends to appoint Lard Friese as CEO of Nationale-Nederlanden and Chairman of the Dutch Intermediary Division (Nationale-Nederlanden, Movir, Westland Utrecht) effective 1 September 2008, subject to approval of De Nederlandsche Bank.

Lard Friese (45, Dutch) currently is CEO of Česká pojišťovna, the largest insurance and pensions company in the Czech Republic. He will take over the position of Ludo Wijngaarden, who will step down as of 1 August 2008. Mr. Friese will report directly to Jacques de Vaucleroy, member of the Executive Board of ING Group, responsible for Insurance Europe.

“Lard has a broad background in the insurance industry in the Netherlands as well as in other international markets. He is an accomplished executive who has proven to be capable of leading large organisations in complex environments. I am confident he will successfully lead the organisation in delivering on its strategic direction and ongoing transformation process,” said Jacques de Vaucleroy.

Mr. Friese has 22 years of business experience, of which 17 in the insurance industry in the Netherlands, Japan and Central Europe. Between 1988 and 2003 he held various positions in the life insurance and pensions business at Aegon among others. In 2003 he joined the European Executive Board of marketing information company ACNielsen. Three years later he was appointed CEO of Česká pojišťovna. In addition, Mr. Friese is a member of the Executive Committee of Generali PPF Holding, responsible for all activities in the Czech and Slovak Republics.
