ING announced on 6 November 2020 that Ljiljana Čortan will be appointed chief risk officer and a member of the Management Board Banking of ING effective 1 January 2021. She will succeed Steven van Rijswijk, who was appointed chief executive officer of ING effective 1 July 2020.

The Supervisory Board will propose to shareholders to appoint her as a member of the Executive Board of ING Group at the Annual General Meeting in April 2021.

Until the appointment of Ljiljana Čortan as chief risk officer of ING Bank, the day-to-day risk activities were performed by Karst Jan Wolters, reporting to Tanate Phutrakul, chief financial officer of ING.

In order to ensure a smooth transition, Karst Jan Wolters will support Ljiljana Čortan during the first phase of her onboarding in 2021.
