ING Directors take Banker's Oath
On 12 June 2013, the directors of ING took the Banker's Oath.
On 1 January this year, legislation entered into force requiring the directors of financial institutions to make a Moral-Ethical declaration, referred to as the Banker's Oath. In this Oath, they declare that they ‘will carefully balance the interests of all stakeholders, and in doing so, focus on customer centricity’. And that they ‘will facilitate trust in the financial sector’.
This is not therefore fundamentally different from what is included in the ING Code of Conduct, and to which all ING employees sign up when they join the business. However, it is confirmation of this promise in the form of a meaningful ceremony. During this ceremony for the directors of ING, just over 40 directors of the various ING Group business units all took the Oath.
