Walker has worked for ING and its predecessors since 1990. He held various positions at ING in London and Amsterdam, including global head of Corporate and Financial Institutions Lending, leading teams in 28 countries.

In 2011 he became regional head of ING in the UK (including Ireland and the Middle East). In this role, he led the business through a period of considerable change and increased the profitability of the UK business.

Walker has also enhanced ING’s profile in the City of London through holding a number of non-executive positions, such as chairman of the Board for The Association of Foreign Banks, and board member of TheCityUK and the International Business and Diplomatic Exchange (IBDE).

“Gerald is an empowering leader, with a broad range of experience and a keen customer focus,” said Head of ING Wholesale Banking Isabel Fernandez.

He will further develop ING’s strong Americas franchise from New York, succeeding Rudolf Molkenboer, who has been in the role since March 2013.

“I’d like to thank Rudolf, who has done an excellent job growing ING’s business in the Americas, and whose next role I will announce in due course, as well as a successor for Gerald,” said Fernandez.
