ING stands with the people of Ukraine

At ING, we’re deeply saddened and concerned by the brutal violence we’re witnessing in Ukraine.

“We strongly condemn the invasion of Ukraine, the devastating and heartbreaking impact it has on people’s lives and the threat it poses to international stability and security,” said Steven van Rijswijk, CEO of ING Group. “We stand with the people of Ukraine and our thoughts and hearts are with the people who are suffering and fearing for their lives and livelihood.”

We have decided:

  • To not do any new business with any Russian companies.
  • To waive fees for transactions to Ukraine for personal customers in all our retail markets until further notice, to allow people to send money to loved ones.
  • To make a €3 million donation to UNICEF’s humanitarian relief efforts to help children and their families affected by the conflict inside Ukraine and on the receiving borders, on top of the various local fundraising initiatives taking place across our markets. We’ve also set up a global UNICEF fundraising page where employees can make donations too.

ING has been active in Ukraine for nearly 30 years, offering banking services to corporates and institutions. Our priority is the safety and wellbeing of our employees. We remain in close contact with them and are doing everything we can to help them stay safe and address their needs. We also remain in contact with our colleagues in Russia, who are facing additional challenges as well.

We continue to support our international clients in Russia and our business in Ukraine is operational. We’re monitoring the situation closely and will review and adapt accordingly.

We will continue to abide by international sanctions and have processes in place to respond to sanctions in a timely way across our network. We remain in close contact with relevant authorities and fully comply with sanctions and political decisions.
