For shoppers, the lure of a discount has always been enticing. But with inflation and the cost of living hitting particularly hard in in recent times, the need to save money is stronger than ever.

This demand for discounts has seen ING’s own shopping platform, DealWise go from 200,000 users in February 2021 to 1.6 million users in December 2023.

Available to ING customers in Romania (as ING Bazar), Germany (as DealWise) and Belgium (as ING+ deals), the platform has transformed the way online shopping is now done. Rooted in a customer-centric approach, DealWise uses the power of machine learning to curate personalised offers that ensure every customer’s shopping experience is tailored to their preferences. And it is visible in the numbers. Shoppers using DealWise in Germany, for example, have almost doubled in the frequency of their purchases since the launch of the platform.

Retailers big and small

Offering discounts of up to 15 percent, partner brands range from small independent merchants to retail giants including Amazon (in Belgium and Germany), Lidl (in Romania and Germany), Delhaize (in Belgium), Booking (in Germany and Belgium), Otto (in Germany) and Apple (in Germany).

It’s a mix that’s seen not only a dramatic increase in the number of users (up 35 percent in 2023 over 2022), but significant savings of over six million euros since DealWise’s inception, a welcome boost to their financial health.

While DealWise’s growth has been a revelation, there are no signs of it slowing down. This year is expected to be another year of expansion for DealWise.

Customer satisfaction

According to DealWise lead Stefan Radu, what sets DealWise apart is not just its impressive roster of partners (over 1,000 merchants), but its unwavering commitment to customer satisfaction.

“Our unique personalisation, coupled with the technical prowess of our developers and data experts, illustrates the platform's dedication to enhancing the user experience,” he said.

With a remarkable year behind them and an exciting one just starting, the stage is set for DealWise to continue reshaping the digital shopping experience for ING customers worldwide.
